The headline is a flagrant attempt to catch your attention. The report on the live forum is of course yet to be written. Meanwhile, Ged Ladd will whip you all up to a veritable frenzy at the thought of the wonderful winter warmers to come on MTWD over the coming weeks and months.

UNPRECIDENTED INTEREST FROM MIDDLESEX FORUM

We are delighted to inform MTWD readers (while we still have your undivided) that the call to arms (well, call for papers really) issued 20 September has yielded an unprecedented response already and we are hoping for far more to come.  Click the link below if you want to see that message board thread:

Volunteers have been flooding in and we already have several articles in the bank.

Our most exciting and important signing for the winter is an embedded journalist in the Barmy Army for pretty much the whole tour.  For obvious reasons he must travel in cognito.  He has been a Middlesex fan for 30+ years, so remembers the glory years as well as the dog years.  He will be attending all 5 tests, a few warm up matches plus about 6 one day matches. He expects to hook up with the barmy army – thus go on some of their events including media days.  He should, therefore, meet some of the players.  He will provide feedback from within the crowd, hopefully telling some stories and maybe providing some pictures that Sky may not cover.  All being well, he’ll report in a couple of times a week and lace his reports with Middlesex colour.

In addition, we already have in the bank several reminisce pieces, a farewell to Paul Weekes and a life story.  These will all be published over the next few weeks (or in Paul’s case, Weekes).

On promise, we also have book reviews, several competitions, joiners/leavers pieces and some random stuff to keep us all sane.  OK, keeping us all sane is probably a little over-ambitious, but you get the gist.

In short, many thanks to all of you who have already volunteered to write.  But also there is plenty of room for those of you who are still thinking about it.

Ideally, we want to update the site with features at least once a week, ideally twice or more.  Your county needs you – please volunteer to write for us.  It’s fun.

Winter stinks but MTWD can make it tolerable.  (How’s that for a snappy, upbeat strap line?)
