Ged Ladd publishes the eagerly awaited runners and riders in the Middlesex CC Starting XI Prediction Competition. 17 intrepid contestants slug it out in what should be a fascinating contest.

A record 17 contestants have thrownt hei hats into the ring for this contest.  At least a month before Middlesex's first County Championship match of the season, these brave souls had a guess at who the starting line up would be:

OMT
DIAMOND
BARMY KEV
20/20 CHAMPS '08
TOP TIER PAVILLION
DINGY BAGS
GED LADD
JANET DAVIS
BLASTER '89
BRIAN WILSON
MIDDLEMARK
BANJO BAGGINS
BUBBLES DOG
PODDY
COMEBACKGATT
SEAXE MAN

TIM PEREI

Indeed, so large was the pack and so many people sent in revisions, I am asking all contestants to check that their entries are included and that I have indeed included their last submission before the deadline.  Apologies if I have missed any entries or updates - please e-mail mtwdadmin@googlemail.com referencing the time and date of the communication which you believe I have missed - none have been deleted.

Indeed, everyone can have a butchers at the entries through the following link:

It's going to be a tight contest.  Everyone has plugged for Godleman, Malan, Udal, Scott and Murtagh to play.   Almost everyone has plugged for Morgan.   On the batting side, various permutations of Dexter, Compton and Strauss.  Some people have plugged for Berg to play an allrounder role.  The bowling permutations revolve mainly around Finn, Richardson and Silverwood, with one or two plugging for Evans.

I expect that most people will be pretty close this year, but I also suspect that a clear winner should emerge.

Good luck everyone.

As returning officer for this constituency..........

Honourable mentions to Barmy Kev and Seaxe Man, who both scored a very respectable 10. In any other year, one of those two would have won (in fact, the matter would have been determined between those two on which of Godleman and Hughes took the first ball).

But all of that is moot, as we have an outright winner, Blaster '89 with an unprecidented full house. Many many congratulations.

Sadly, Blaster, the promised miniscule prize remains miniscule despite your full house. Please e-mail us with details on how to get the prize to you. I am at Lord's again Friday and could present it to you/leave it for you there. Alternatively, we can post prizes and usually they even arrive.

I've got over it and accept result.

Excellent effort Blaster well done. Mind you, Still think from my Ceefax view we should have played Silvers for Evans.

thanks everyone. you need a bit of luck in this and could easily have been silvers and compton for evans and berg! or finn may have been fit.

Good luck in all the other competitons, although not too much because im in some of them!! Lets see if anyone can match this success again next yr.
