Christmas treat!

I know you have all been gagging to see the results of the caption contest, however we've had snow (well EVERYONE else has used this excuse!) and the new year... Then the ashes retention and series win... But here it is!!!
So.... As winner of the previous prize I have been given the task of selecting the winner this time....
Worthy entries were, of course mine, which I thought were very, very funny, however in the spirit of fair play I decided not to choose one of mine...
So without further ado I will announce the results in reverse order...
In third place... BarmierKev with "makes a change from Ged cooking the books"
In second place... Jeff Coleman with "Oh no not the chipolata again!"
And first place goes to ...... (drum roll)....
Diamond with "Meat and 2 veg anyone?"
Congratulations to Diamond, your prize will beforded in due course!
Thanks again to everyone who entered!!

Very, very funny!!!!

On 27th December, I explained that the reason why I decided not to comment on the December Caption Competition article (having made seven comments on the November Caption Competition article) and not to have aspirations of saying anything humorous was because I believe that people prefer not to see me trying too hard to be humorous.
I shouldn't be too disheartened though, as I am hopeful of doing well in the Seasonal Photo Quiz (for which I sent my entry for parts two and three earlier tonight having already done so for part one). However, if I don't do well in that competition then I can't see myself ever doing well in an MTWD competition.
It seems that some people are well-suited to coming up with funny captions for a photo and are ill-suited to identifying cricketers in a photo, and that the opposite is true of others (well, I know that some have said that they find the quiz difficult). I believe that I am in the latter group, although I don't know whether there is anyone who can be considered as well-suited to both types of competition.
I've been told I'm very good at satirical humour. But have never won a cartoon caption competition on MTWD,
I feel I am a failed all rounder here. But like you say Jonathan I shouldn't be too disheartened

I'm only here for the tele

Perhaps that is because MTWD has never published a cartoon caption competition, only photo captions.
Well done to Diamond, btw, whose winning caption was excellent - a much deserved win. Also well done to everyone who entered, there were several really good entries this month.
Diamond, you have two choices prize-wise. If you want the regular miniscule prize, please simply send me your address by PM or e-mail and one of those will be yours. Or you could elect to judge the next competition as an alternative prize.
* the photograph;
* the fact that Diamond won the competition;
* the fact that you didn't manage to enter the comeptition;
* something else?
I know, I know, almost too much to dream for after years of hurt.
Hopefully QPR will indeed be a Premier League club in 2011/12 (I wrote on 29th December about how much I like seeing London teams - and teams supported my MTWD posters in particular - do well) and Middlesex will indeed be in division 1 of the County Championship in 2012, but sadly for non-QPR supporters I have to say that I think that off the two events the one likelier to happen will be QPR gaining promotion.
