The Chesterfield 6 report on the journey, the laughs with cricket bits filled in.
Kimmy Describes Journey Up
Well we managed to all meet at just about at the right time. From the Headingley 7 line up Phil " The Power" and Seaxe Man dropped, replaced for tactical reasons Diamond and Mr Kimmy. Beefy gives us duff info and the Champagne Bar is in fact open, but at £8.50 a glass we went for coffee. We got on train and took over 1st class carriage (£9 upgrade well worth it). Lower Pav managed to blag a seat opposite a very attractive lady (dunno how long she'll stay there, Diamond may have to rescue her.) We later discover not only is the poor lady sat opposite Lower Pav he has taken her reserved seat. We were waiting for his famous chat up line. " so what do you think of Scott Newman?”. We have 2 spillages after 10 mins (mentioning no names Lower Pav and Womble). This is followed by Lower Pav's hat falling off luggage rack on floor. You just had to be there. Trolley comes round for complimentary tea and coffee, which goes down well from all apart from Kev who is on 2nd G + T. Diamond is ignoring everybody, just pipes up to insult me, I think he calls me a twit or was he referring to something on Twitter? 11am and first beers of the day bought. and drunk very quickly. It's going to be a long day. Observation - isn't it funny the further North we travel our coach on the train empties, leaving us as the posse?

Lower Pav-1st 20 overs
We arrive at the ground in fact it is a bit of a park In the distance I see a man walking a dog. A brass band is playing in the background, I had a dance with Kev. Palladino starts with a maiden to Robbo. 2nd over AC hits slow bowler Durston for 4. I notice at this stage Derby shirts are a horrible electric blue. Score update 3rd over we are 19-0, 5th over 24-0. There is a Derby player on the boundary who has no name on back of his shirt. We chant to him "what's it like to have no name?" First wicket over 6 at 24 AC out caught on boundary. Stirling comes out to bat and hits an early 6. End of 7th over we were 32-1. Then we have Footit. bowling 2nd ball is a front foot no ball that went for 4, next ball head high no ball another 4, then a 2, there's 14 from one ball. A six followed same over. There was a put your foot in it comment to follow. There was a "can you bowl against us every week?" chant to follow. Moving on to 10th over. Two sixes from Striling. We have a 50 partnership witth Stirlo contributing 40 with extras contributing more than Robbo. 13th over its 88-1, 14th 95-1-hope you're keeping up. Stirlo dominating and get his 50 in 15th over from 33 balls, four 6s and 3 4s. Stirlo hit a skier an absolute an absolute dolly dropped by the Derbyshire fielder who had ironically no. "77" on his back- I refuse to comment. We lose Robbo 18th over 114-2. Captain Rogers is soon out in 19th over, I'm disappointed but pleased as I can now hand over reporting pen to Beefy with score 127-3 with Newman still in on 0.

Beefy's Bits
Alcohol induced report. The Vermin ears have been worn and it's my 20 overs to do. Newman is in struggling, Stirlo on 67 then Newman comes out of his shell a 6 that nearly hits a acorn tree. 150 off 24 overs Diamond says at least 300 here. Meanwhile IOB is spotted in commentary tent, we ask him to give us a wave and he does. Its 179-4, now 181-5 Oliie in now, Raptorous applause for him he's MTHD. Even louder applause as Stirlo reaches ton and we reach 200 with 7 overs to go. I take toilet break Stirlo out for 109 we are 215-6, thanks Diamond for update. Back to me again. Crook didn't last long. Neither did Smudge, is this another collapse? Ollie sees us steadily through to 253. Is this enough? . No idea, never judge a wicket until both sides have batted on it.

Good President . Ear ear. I Love it. Groucho Marx in background
Barmy Kev - the first 20 overs of Derby response
There seems to be a livlier atmosphere as Derby open innings. A group opposite make random chants and chant " Finny give us a wave" he ignores them. He takes an early wicket dropped at 1st slip but rebounded nicely to Simmo and we chant "Finny give us a wave" and he does. Shortly after Durston is clean bowled Finn at 44-2 in 8th over this looking promising. Meanwhile, Chesney Hughes hits lots of boundaries. We were bored with the " you're the one only" noise from speakers. Wanted to chant you've lost your one and only. But It never happened while I was reporting I hand over the reins to Diamond at 112-2 after 20 overs with Derby for 1st time ahead on the Vera.

more than a park
Final 20 Overs by Diamond
Straight away Chesney out. " There goes your one and only" as is a mass scramble with Kev handing over reporters notepad, even though he wasn't taking notes. 112-4 Smith gone caught and bowled Smith. Knight in and Knight out 136-5. Enter Burgoyne the man with no name. AC 2nd ball wicket, 138-6 this reporting lark fun. Useful partnership until discussing if we want a coffee wicket at 172 after 30 overs. 82 needed off 10. Finny our best bowler back on. A skier Rogers dives, super effort but just misses out on catch. 200 up with 2 successive 6s it’s falling away from us. Another skier it looks like clearing rope as swirling in wind but Robbo runs round and takes spectacular catch. We have a streaker with shorts half on nobody’s amused, idiot. Game over as last two wickets fall quickly. So Mr Kimmy breaks his cherry, his 1st Middlesex win. We cheer players off. IOB passes us on way out with an affectionate welcome.

Happy days for Middlesex fans
Womble-journey home
Soon as match over Diamond hands reporting pen to me. We go to pub for victory drink. Then to train for another upgraded journey. Lower Pav, Beefy, Diamond and Kev get louder and drink more as Mr Kimmy (now nicknamed Spillage) has a coffee and sleeps all the way home. Kev annoys Lower Pav saying he is going to completely edit his part of report, (Kev-he wrote 15 pages I put on 10 pages worth). The trolley man was amazed on 2nd visit they did not want any beer as tiredness kicked in and suddenly it became quieter Diamond gets annoyed as he is arranging a family pick up from St Pancras and losing his 02 Network, while Lower Pav has similar problems and makes a significant contribution to the MTWD swear box. Things perked up as we had a close to midnight treat as he got his nuts out for us to share. We arrive St Pancras 20 minutes early. Diamond's pick up not arrived he had to rely on plan B via Boston Manor. As we walked along platform some Indian cricket fans congratulated Middlesex, which sparked of another final common chant followed by one that can't be repeated here.
Summation- from Barmy Kev
These are long tiring days. I left home 8am and arrived back just after midnight. It is fortunate all our 3 tour games have been victories, which makes a great difference. But they are fun days regardless. Apart from one idiot I presume cos I was wearing pink called me a "gay bxstard" the interaction with locals was really enjoyable. It was nice to get their good wishes and enjoy their humour in defeat. The acknowledgement from team also makes it worthwhile. For those who enjoy these reports it’s our pleasure, for those who don't you'll be glad to know this is our final tour for season.

So no mention of Chesterfield's famous (Steven) crooked spires in the report?
(considering Crooky was little more than a footnote in the match, I suppose it was unlikely his name would get a mention). Nonetheless I enjoyed reading it.Thank you very much indeed.I was wondering how to get rid of the adverts so I could read everything properly.
When your postings are to the point and do not ramble you can make a decent contribution to our site including helping computer morons such as myself. Thank you again
I would also wish to thank Kev For editing my contribution and making some sense of it.
Finally I would wish to thank all my companions on this latest trip.
The cricket is great particularly when we win. However what makes it very special for me, is making the trip with fellow Middlesex diehards and their great company throughout the day.
There are more pictures to go up, including a spire and will be uploaded later. It's been a busy today for moderators here.

The 300 could be on if Stirlo joins the party again, a big ask for the 92ao tho.
