A weary Barmy Kev reports on end of season awards and some of the fun of the party
Our 2011 season was closed with the Annual End of Season Awards Dinner in the Thomas Lord Suite.
We arrived mingling and made very welcome by many there including players. ardent fans, committee and board board members.

A delightful dinner was had and I was particularly grateful for organisers for arranging a menu just for me as I liked nothing on menu. I'm not a Pollock person. I'm also grateful for those who weren't drinking much as I was sure I had more than half of bottle of wine allocated for guests.
This was followed by awards with Shaggy master of ceremonies. The whole squad were presented with the Division Two County Championship trophy.

A cheque was also presented by Vinny with Vic on stage for Breakthrough , for £21,000.00 + which has been raised throughout the season. Marvellous achievement.

Chris Rogers was awarded with batting award for season and Dial M the bowling award. They were then announced as joint players of season. Dial M won the Players' player of the Year.

There was also a special presentation for Ben Scott for his services to Middlesex.

James Kettleborough won the award for contribution to Youth Cricket
No joy for any of us at the raffle, but Olivia (Mrs Barmy) won a signed bat and players shirt given to each person at the table who's birthday was nearest to today. There was an elimination higher and lower competion, eg was Berg's average above or below 45? Dawid and Robbie got to final stages but not sure if deliberate they were eliminated for a lady to win based on whether Corey got 45 runs or more this season.
Comedian Ian Irving followed. He was hilarious. He was a black guy and his opening line was "last time I saw so many white people I was in court". He picked on Corey. A lot of his other stuff was visual or unrepeatable.
More mingling amongst everyone and glad Olivia found everyone so accomodating. As did Kimmy's guest her mum.
I couldn't resist a final pick up of trophy.
Championes
The party continued at a famous night spot after midnight. Olivia had work next day so we said would stay for an hour. We ended back at hotel 4am. Day after has been struggle, but worth it.

I LOVE this club! All the staff are brilliant! They are always so nice to talk to and a GREAT evening was had by all...
My poor old mum who is quite disabled was asked to dance by some nice young man at the bar!!
I'm just about feeling human... Roll on next season!!

Spoke to a few of the guys before sitting down to a good meal,the service all though a little slow (lot's of folk to feed) was excellent and the menu interesting. The awards ceremony saw Buck and Dial M's tables weighed down with trophies and champagne.
The turn might not have been to the liking of some of the ladies present but after all it was a celebration of a bunch of guys end of season, a successful one at that.Mrs Diamond enjoyed his act and took some of the cleaner gags into work the following morning.
Thanks to everyone involved in a super evenings entertainment,just a shame an early start on Thursday morning and the car meant we had to retire hurt soon after the meal.
My tickets were won at the Sponsors do but next year I will be buying tickets for this event (and taking time off the following day).
Well worth the cash I'd say...
And for those of you that think black tie means expense... Atleast 2 of our players wore ties rather than bow ties... And 2 wore kilts!
