New Year Caption Competition

By MTWD ADMIN
January 5 2013

Here's the 1st caption competition for 2013. The scene is Mike Roseberry observing Phil Tuffnell at Southgate CC.  I'm sure there is plenty of scope here .

As last winner Adelaide is resident judge. Deadline is 19th Jan for oportunity to judge next months competition or win a very miniscule prize,

Best I can do so far is.

Roseberry saying. " Wake up it as not as if this is Warwickshire of 2012?"

Tufnell thinking Southgate ideal preparation for celebrity Jungle.

Observation. This would never happen at Uxbridge, Vic and Ram would be sleeping in these chairs during play.

Ouch, femail dog.
Happy old groundsman git.

Edit to include the words femail dog as the site apparently doesn't have @#$%&.

Roseberry is thinking to himself, that's a fiver I took off Gatt for knocking Tuffers tea off the arm of his chair with this stump without waking him up.

"So, What do you reckon you'll be doing in 20 years time Tuffers?"

"I reckon I'll be a reporter on an early evening entertainment show, talking to a sex obsessed nun about nude paintings"

"Course you will Tuffers, Course you will".

Or Roseberry saying to Tuffers" Soon you will be appearing in a remote place full of disfunctional so called celebrities". Tuffers replies " no way am I going to Uxbridge. Time for my sleep"

That's all folks!

I will now ruminate for a bit, and assuming I can still see afterwards I will tap in the name of a winner.

Missed the deadline but anyway, I'd've gone with:

'You're not convincing anyone with your bid to be nightwatchman mate!'

Quite a lot of ruminating either due to the high standard of entries or Adelaide can't see.

BTW this is post is not an entry.

OK, chaps. I think I've managed to work out what all the long words meant, even the ones mispalt, and the prize goes to ... Chunky for

"So, What do you reckon you'll be doing in 20 years time Tuffers?"

"I reckon I'll be a reporter on an early evening entertainment show, talking to a sex obsessed nun about nude paintings"

"Course you will Tuffers, Course you will".

Blimey!

I've won something for change.

I thought there were some equally good, maybe more deserving entries out there, but I always thought Adelaide was a fine judge of character.

I shall be in London mid April when we play Derbyshire at Lords, so maybe claim my miniscule prize then (otherwise I suspect cost of postage might be more than prize itself).

Chunky

I suspect that miniscule may mean homeopathic, with some doubt as to whether there is actually a molecule of prize in there at all. I'd go for judging the next one if I were you, then you can keep everyone on tneterhooks for more than a week just like I did.

Thank you Adelaide for taking such a long time for a considered judgement on the winner. I thought given I had submitted close to half the entries I had a better than average chance of winning. Get over it Kev. I have.

Congratulations Chunky for winning the competition. Indeed I will make sure you receive your well deserved mini prize at Derby game.

There's another caption competition to go before season starts and I will search high and low to find another judge given Chunky appears to have rejected that option.

Sounds omininous.

If anyone told me this time last year we would be playing Derbyshire again in the county championship in 2013 I would have feared the worst, and assumed we were going to be relegated.

If weather holds Derbyshire is a must win game (as everyone who plays them will expect to beat them).
