Safe at last

Kev live from Lord's completes report before close of play with Middlesex seemingly safe.
I missed yesterday due to weather and missed the comical declaration that resulted in match finishing early. While the decision deprived us (and maybe Warwickshire) of a potential bonus point, it made that follow on target that little more manageable.
This is my penultimate day, result and weather permitting, of cricket for the year. It is sad that there is no chance of a Middlesex win. However, it is crucial we secure draw to gain or not lose to much leeway on relegation rivals. Even for us it would be difficult to lose if we save the follow on target of 213. After that push on for bonus points. Then let's hope Wednesday is a bores draw. This typed up before start of play and will remain in report regardless of what happens today.
We start off with few scares and Robbo certainly doesn't look comfortable. What have England done to him people were asking and matter was raised made him forget where his off stump is as he was bowled playing no shot for 12 with score 33. There's a long way to go. Gubbins was beaten by extra pace from Rickety a superb juggled catch by keeper McKay. My mood not helped when Mr Perambulator mispronounces Dawid Malan name ( weren't we supposed to get rid of him ! Not Dawid ) . My friend Ian from Lanky says Malan only scores well when he has seen him, Ok was at Uxbridge, manages a scratchy 12 out plum LBW. In checking other scores on Crick info as BBC were way behind observed there our score 4 ahead of scoreboard. It was wrong for about 10 minutes and I offered my mini iPad around the crowd for updates. The actual lunch score was a worrying 83 3. Lanky were being batted out of their games as were Durham doing to Notts.
Time to consolidate after lunch. Perhaps not 1st over Dext hits 3 4s and a 2 off Patel. This set tone for rest of afternoon. As we continued to keep scoreboard ticking the bowling and fielding got worse. The biggest culprit was Gordon who was continually bowling nowhere near stumps. It had to happen eventually Buck got a nick from a wide leg side one caught behind with score 192 not a problem, even for us. We make it to tea 197 4. Good session, possibly season defining one for us.
After tea,it looks like only bonus points to play for. 213 quickly up we saved the follow on for no further loss. Now time to relax , not that I was worried in the first place. Dext soon out. Stirlo next in, the game now seems dead . We achieve next bonus point. The next objective is another bonus point. Our effort for this maybe on tomorrows report.

I was fearful that the fact the media have exposed Sam Robson's weakness will play into the hands of bowlers of Middlesex's opponents. Hopefully he will nonetheless find a way to make a few big scores on his remaining appearances this season.
