Barmy Kev reports on a shock but invevitable revelation on the direction our club is moving
From a hastily arranged meeting after the Seaxe AGM at the Tavern, I am advising of an announcement ahead of the Middlesex CCC AGM. I have been told this by a "reliable source " as a heads up before the meeting. For the 20/20 only our name will be changed from Middlesex to North London. This is the first stage of moving to franchise cricket. I forget who the source was as I had a few too many wed rines but one of the top table said and I quote " look what happened Warwickshire when they changed to Birmingham. Anyway what's in a name? " The nickname part of the idea is for us to be called "North London Leprechauns" suggested to appease some disgruntled MTWD objectors because of the link to our regular match reporter. Someone mentioned " how about the North London Numpties" based on recent performances.
Following suit there is a strong rumour that Surrey will become the South London something unprintable and Sussex the Brighton Rockers . For us, to keep the North London theme for one game we are looking to hire out either White Hart Lane or the Arsenal Emirates stadium .
Watch this space for further developments that are beyond belief.

Although im not a lover of T20 cricket,if we can use Arsenals ground for one game per season, and fill it,that would be a huge money spinner and could attract overseas players.
Oh - wait a minute...
And, only 5 Tests in total of 4day durationa nd 100 overs a day, to be played to the finish with the lights on.
Further goodbye to 4 day 2 divisional cricket. Takes up too much time, better spent at any number of footie grounds as franchises. The Riverside Ramblers another.
Back to 3day cricket, one div of 10 teams, 110 overs per day.
Rule out CC, too many balls in the River.
