Beefy reports on majority of a disappointing defeat with Kev finishing off. We also hear about an inaudible PA, annoying chants, some side comments and Kev nearly not making it home.
Asdashire in their bright light green shirts win the toss and put us into bat. There was mass confusion early on as could not work out from the silent PA system what was going on or who was even in our line up or who won the toss.

At 19-1 Mala done by highly bounced ball unplayable one, caught behind. Compo, had some lucky escapes as Asda workers had some appeals turned down. There were comments this wicket looks green to reply from Lower Pav "no it's those shirts". It's now 28-2 as Robbo plays on to one that keeps low. Compo plays a terrible shot it's 36-3. Moggy out it's 67-4 another rising ball. Our new "specialist" one day number 6 Gubbins is out for 1 caught behind, it looks grim at 68-5. Franklin out, now we are 74-6. Ollie dismissed giving catching practise it's 83 -7. Standing ovation by Vermin Corner as we reach the magic 100 score. 118-8 Simmo LBW off of Croft's Original bowling.
In the meantime, there was a long queue in the stand waiting for burgers, there was a shout from busy lady serving within earshot of Vermin Corner “is anyone waiting for chips” with a communal response of "yes please" from us which didn't please lady serving. Our innings ended with no ball free hit, followed by a wide another free hit, which was wasted. From 161-8 we are 161 all out.
In reply, our new signing Junaid Khan with a skip and jump on run up earns him the nickname Skippy as he achieves early wicket 4-1 off 2 overs Lower Pav reckons he is going to finish with 8-12. While he is economical, TRJ is leaking boundaries. Skippy hits Paterson on hand and it hurts.

It's 49-2 as Paterson is out caught Moggy bowled Harris. Soon it’s 53-3 as Brown is caught by Ollie off of Skippy, who looks really good. 63-4 Croft caught behind off Franco this in now an interesting looking game.
Asdashire are slowly turning the screw, but screw wound back Horton caught Rayner off of Franco 9 -5. With Davies caught behind off of TRJ for 1, 93-6. How this game has changed. Seaxe Man is singing "I'm sexy and I know it"
There is quieter applause for the Asdashire 100 than for ours and then the turning point. A quick single not responded to, both players are at same keeper’s end as Simmo has ball he knocks stumps down meanwhile a batsman return to bowlers end safely. Unbelievable schoolboy error, Wickets not happening as they are chipping away at our total I hand over report duties to Kev, as we are turning to spin .
This is Kev still shaking head over missed run out. Moggy is bowling out all our big guns. Faulkner out with score on 141 off Skippy’s final ball this seems too late but merited a "Skippy" chant. Then TRJ prises Jordan Clarke with score 147 and now two new batsmen in. This prompted a loud ""Middle Middle Middle" chant. Harris last over we really needed a wicket, it didn't happen as they played him carefully. With Mala needed to bowl in tandem with Ollie neither looked threatening and they canter to victory with 2 overs spare. If only!
It was impressive fightback by us, in a good atmosphere and thought it was worth a couple of drinks by station to enjoy the company further. My later than planned exit was nearly costly as due to delay at Preston I nearly missed last tube train to take me back home.

Well done Beefy and Kev for this fun and accurate report.
At least the boys fought hard all the way. I am afraid that everyone knew deep down, the missed run out, cost us the game, and it was extremely frustrating and annoying to witness it.
Never mind, I had a great trip, and thanks to everyone for their wonderful company.

I can only post as I saw it. The wicket appeared not to be the easiest to bat on. There was uneven bounce etc, but I accept the batting on both sides was not good. I also accept that we were a bowler short on the day.
However, leaving all that aside. If memory serves me right, they were at the time of the attempted run out 107 for 6. If they had then become 107 for7. I honestly believe, that despite our batting, we would have gone on and won the game. I agree with Beefy and Kev, the missed run out opportunity was not good at all, and that is being kind.

A pleasant ground which was almost full to capacity. Perhaps Lancs supporters prefer one day cricket since they were only about 300 at the Championhip relegation decider last year. I think the attendance may have surprised them since there were only two outlets selling hot food, hence the long queues, that and the fact that no food was available in the pavillion

We had Mala doing his best to tell a steward to stop people walking behind the sightscreen at our Asda Stand end.
Mr D,good to see returning along with LP....I would think the 'great un-fed' would of been ok,we heard they were in the marquee next to pavilion.
Beer queue in pavilion was handled really well,had 5 doing their job of serving beer and taking money...take note Lords!
6 real ales on offer,all very tasty and it wasnt a case of cleaning the bar and then deciding who to serve next.
A mid innings perambulation,and although there had been plenty of rain,the outfield was near to perfect,so well done to the ground staff on their hard work.
All in all,another enjoyable day at another northern outground...apart from the result of course...damn run out!

If you think that the run out cost us the game then you are sadly deluded.
I take it you were not a witness to the game. If so, your eyesight would be of interest to the Army Rangefinders.
Granted the wicket was very seamer friendly and Dexter would have been a better bet on that track.
A spinners delight it was not.
The farcical runout attempt, smashing down the stumps at the wrong ended any hopes.
Faulkner was the one who would have walked. Instead of being 107 4 7, a further 33 crucial runs were added before the 7th wicket went down. Faulkner finished with a valuable 35 runs in a low scoring match.
To the onlookers including the locals, very definitely a turning point.
The fact that Scott did'nt mention the runout is irrevelant, as he probably never saw it.
I should also have mentioned that Blackpool Cricket Club did themselves proud on the day.
