Cook joins Kent

Middlesex today confirmed that Simon Cook, who broke the record for most wickets taken by a Middlesex player in the totesport league, will be joining Kent for next season. The news comes as a blow to Middlesex who suffered from a lack of bowling options last season.

Vinny Codrington, Middlesex Chief Executive said "We fully accept Simon's wish to pursue his career by facing a new challenge with a different county. We were extremely reluctant to see him go. He has had an outstanding season for us, breaking both the national and club record for one day wickets in the totesport league, and being our top wicket taker in the county championship".

"He has been with the club since 1997, and it is always sad to lose a player who has developed with the club. However, we respect his reasons for wanting to move on, and, as hard as we tried to keep him, he wanted a fresh and new challenge. We wish him well".
