England 'Crusie' pleases Broad

England T20 captain Stuart Broad, was delighted with his troops, as they qualified for the World T20 super eights, by virtue of a 116 run win over Afghanistan in their opening game, with their opponents eliminated thanks to two defeats.....

It has been a quiet start to the tournament, with poor crowds on show for most of the opening group games, but now things move closer to the super eights, it is hoped for more supporters to head to Colombo in particular.

England did what they had to do against a spirited Afgan side, who were rolled over for 80, in pursuit of Englands massive 196 from their 20 overs.

Luke Wright impressed in the number three slot, with an unbeaten 99, but it was the way England played overall, which pleased Broad most "There's a lot of energy and that's what you want for the three weeks you're out here," he told BBC Sport.

"We were fully prepared for the first game and we feel like we have a lot of confidence in this squad." Broad went on.

England now play India on Sunday in a game that doesn't mean anything in terms of qualificaiton, but no doubting that Broad will want to make a mark, and ensure England remain unbeaten going into those super eight games.

Broad concluded "T20 cricket is a confidence game. You saw that in 2010, our form going into that wasn't much to shout about but we gathered momentum and ended up winning it. "I'm certainly not looking that far ahead yet but it's important that we started well."
