Swann Admits to Elbow Worry

England's premier spin bowler, Graeme Swann has admitted that his long standing elbow injury, is giving him concerns in this back to back Ashes year, and that he just hopes it can be managed to ensure he plays his part in a massive year for the England Cricket Team....

The injury, which has plagued Swann for the last few years, now threatens to ruin his chances of making all 15 of England's test matches over the next 12 months, and he wants to see out what will probably be his last Ashes series come January 2014.

He was rested from the one day series in India, just after Christmas, in order to give the problem more time to heel, but writing in his Column in the Sun Newspaper today, he wrote "

"I'll be honest, the elbow is always a concern. It's been hanging over me for several years and, despite having an operation in 2009, the problem hasn't entirely gone away.

"It would be a massive pain in the backside if my wonky elbow forced me to miss any of the Tests against Australia."

I'm absolutely determined to be available for what might be my final two Ashes series - and that means managing the elbow as well as possible."Swann concluded.

It may well be that Swann now decides that the longer format is the only way he can maintain any presence in the England side, but given his character, he will not give up any part of the game easily.
