Surrey won the toss and decided to bat. Ian Ward was in blistering form as he hit 20 off Kevin Dead second over. Ward and Brown had put on 45 when Brown was trapped LBW to Cork for 19. Ward and Ramprakash then put on 20 but when Ward was caught behind off Cork for 31 Surrey were 65 for 2. Wickets continued to fall and when Kerr bowled Nadeem Shahid for 1 surrey were 107 for 5. But 78 from Rampakash helped Surrey to 190 all out.

Darbyshire did not start well in their reply as they slipped to 38 for 2, then 79 for 3. Dominic Cork then scored 32 but Ian Salisbury dropped him for 20. Steve Selwood then scrod a match winning 50 as Darbyshire won by 4 wickets. Jason Kerr was 34 not out and he was voted man of the match.
