Lions beaten by Gloustershire

Surrey were beaten by Gloucestershire by 1 wicket in the NUL yesterday in a tense finale. Jon Lewis saw them home with an unbeaten 27.

The Gloucestershire Gladiators beat the Surrey Lions by one wicket yesterday at Bristol in the NUL. Gloucestershire won the toss and put Surrey into bat. Surrey made a good start with an opening partnership of 84 between Ian Ward (27) and Ali Brown (54). Then the Lions collapsed to 103 for 7. Surrey had lost 7 wickets for just 19 runs, but a last wicket stand of 32 between John Batty and Ed Giddins helped Surrey to 163 for 9. Surrey needed a good start and had Gloucestershire 32 for 3. However, 36 from Jeremy Snape gave the Gladiators the upper hand. Another turn saw Surrey in control when Gloustershire slided to 118 for 8. It was Martyn Ball's 45 and Jon Lewis's 27 not out that led Gloucestershire to a narrow 1-wicket victory.
