Bears salvage draw

Warwickshire managed to salvage a draw against Surrey after Michael Powell and Alex Louden shared in unbeaten stand of 141 on day four of the county championship match at Whitgift School.
After making 340 in their first innings, Surrey bowled Warwickshire out for 209, with Mohammad Akram claiming 5 for 51, his best figures for Surrey. Surrey then made 310 for 7, with Tim Murtagh equalling his highest score for the club, with 74 not out. This set Warwickshire an unlikely target of 442 to win. They did not start well as in the final session of day three, which was stopped early because of rain, they lost opener Westwood for 2 to Ormond.
Resuming on 19 for 1, with Knight and Trott at the crease, Surrey had to wait over an hour to claim their first wicket. This came when Trott fell to Harbhajan Singh for 37. This left the bears 69 for 2. Knight was next to fall for a crucial 31, when he became Ormond second victim. However Surrey could not make any further inroads as the bears managed to hold on, with Powell and Louden sharing in an unbeaten stand of 131.
