Tim Murtagh claimed four for 14 as Surrey bowled Derbyshire out for 88 at Derby. Azhar Mahmood also impressed with 3 for 20 as Surrey dealt the Phantoms promotion hopes a severe dent. James Benning sealed victory for the lions with 52 from just 42 balls.

Derbyshire won the toss, however Azhar Mahmood and Tim Murtagh ripped through the phantoms batting order as they were reduced to 34 for 6. Only three players reached double figures, with Tom Lungley top scoring with 21 as Derbyshire were bowled out for a miserable 88. Murtagh took 4 for 14 while Azhar claimed three wickets for 20 runs.

Benning and Batty put on 49 for the opening stand. Batty fell for 14 to Hunter, while Benning hit 52 from 40 balls to guide Surrey to victory. He fell just before the result was confirmed as Hunter trapped him leg before wicket.
