Ward in world of his own

Ian Ward scored 100 and led Surrey to victory for the second time in a week.Surrey were set 237 to win after Yorkshire scored 446 all out with Michael Lumb top scoring with 124.

Surrey started the day on 110 for 3 with Ward and night watchman Ian Sailsbury at the crease. Ward and Sailsbury had put on 100 before Sailsbury was caught behind off the bowling of the captain Darren Lehman. The score now was 209 for 4. This left Surrey needing just 28 for victory. The new batsman Ali Brown scored 5 not out and Ward was left unbeaten on 124. An England recall is on the cards for Ward after his two centuries this week. Surrey are now 33.25 points ahead at the top of the table and are in a good position for the title.
