Thornely signs for Hampshire

The New South Wales batsman featured in two championship mates for Surrey and scored 154 runs, including Half centuries against Middlesex and Hampshire.

The 27 year old, who has featured for Australia A, also bowls and medium pace. Thornely was signed by former Surrey coach Steve Rixon because of the injury to Azhar Mahmood. In his two championship innings he made two half centuries. His top score came against Middlesex as he scored 81. He also played one tote sport league match and three twenty20 matches.
