Surrey wrap up easy win

Surrey wrapped up an easy victory against Gloucestershire at the Brit Oval, with over a day to go. However Mark Ramprakash fell 8 short of his triple century, but still hit his highest ever first class score with 292. Mo Akram took 6 for 34 as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 135.
Ramprakash started the day 276, just three away from his personal best of 279. It was not long in to the days play when he reached the milestone with a cut shot which took him to 280. However he fell just eight short of his triple century. His nine hour innings came to an end when he was caught by Weston with Ball, taking his sixth wicket. Mark Butcher then called the Surrey innings to an end as he declared on 639 for 8.
Needing to score 432 to make Surrey bat again, Gloucestershire never looked like getting this after being reduced to 40 for 4. Gidman and Adshead put up some resistance with a stand of 68. However Mo Akram then demolished the Gloucestershire batting order with the last 5 wickets as they collapsed from 113 for 4, to 135 for 9. Ian Harvey did not bat as had hurt his arm in the first innings. Akram finished with 6 for 34. This gave Surrey a victory by an innings and 297 runs. Surrey also picked up full points from the match.
This result also means that Surrey have a day of, before their C and G group game against Somerset on Sunday.
