All square at Swansea

Surrey drew with Glamorgan in the County Championship at Swansea. Mark Ramprakash hit 156 as Surrey decided to go for the draw instead of setting Glamorgan a realistic target to chase. Surrey are now 17 points ahead of second placed Worcestershire in division two of the Championship.
Day One
Surrey had a bad start as they slipped to 98 for 6, with David Harrison picking up four wickets. Butcher and Bicknell then added a crucial stand 152 for the seventh wicket. Bicknell fell for 59 to Watkins. Butcher was next to go for 136 as he was adjudged leg before wicket to Robert Croft. Ian Salisbury hit 31 before the close to take Surrey to 319 for 9 when stumps were called.
Day Two
Surrey were bowled out for 348 as they narrowly missed out on a fourth batting point. Salisbury was the last man to go as he was bowled by Wharf for 41. Cosgrove and Watkins put on 82 for the first wicket, but they were both dismissed in quick succession by Rikki Clarke. Doshi then got in on the act as he took the wickets of Hemp, Powell and Grant. Salisbury took the next wicket of Wallace for a duck to leave the Welsh outfit 147 for 6. Peng and Grant recovered the situation as they added 119 for the seventh wicket. However Mo Akram removed both in quick succession to leave Glamorgan 267 for 8. Harrison and Croft then added 83. Harrison fell before the close for 36 as he was bowled by Clarke. Croft was not out on 48 as Glamorgan closed on 363 for 9.Day Three
Croft and Cosker added 47 to the overnight score. Croft was out for 72 when he was caught by Salisbury with Mo Arkam taking the wicket as they were bowled out for 410.
Newman and Batty put on 54 for the first wicket. Newman fell for 27 to Croft, but Batty and the new batsman Ramprakash added 124 to put Surrey in control. Butcher made just 1 as he was caught by Peng with Cosker taking the wicket. Ramprakash and Brown took the score to 261 for 3 when stumps were called.
Day Four
Ramprakash and Brown added 51 to the overnight score. Brown was bowled by Wharf for 73, who also dismissed Clarke for a duck. Ramprakash was then joined by Benning and together they added 52. Ramprakash was finally dismissed for 159 when he was bowled by Wharf, who picked up his fourth wicket. Surrey finally declared on 448 for 6, setting Glamorgan an impossible target of 387 from 40 overs. Glamorgan got off to a flying start as opener’s Cosgrove and Watkins put on 101 for the opening stand. Cosgrive fell for 80 from just 48 balls .He scored 70 runs in boundaries, as he hit 16 fours and one six. Watkins also fell stumped by Batty to Doshi for Surrey set Glamorgan an impossible target of 387 from 40 overs. Watkins also fell stumped by Batty to Doshi for 48. The game was finally called a draw with Glamorgan 168 for 2, with seven overs left.
