Adam Lyth Slays The Unicorns
Adam Lyth

At the third time of asking the Yorkshire Vikings have produced their first successful forty-overs conquest of the summer. The hero of the occasion was Adam Lyth who finished with an unbeaten half century that helped the Tykes over the finishing line at Chesterfield against the Unicorns. Hopefully young Lyth can now translate this fine form into the four-day arena in the absence of Root and Bairstow.
Also for the third consecutive Sunday, Yorkshire fielded first, but learning from the mistakes of their two previous outings, the Vikings bowled well enough to leave our batsmen chasing a total of less than two hundred. However, even allowing for this much-needed improvement, the white rose survived a top order wobble before the left-handed Lyth proceeded to steer his team to triumph by five wickets, with only seven balls to spare. Earlier Adam had also been responsible for a run out which boosted his team's cause. One hopes that both Lyth and his colleagues can build upon this one-day victory, coming at the conclusion to a highly successful week for Yorkshire CCC.
