Dawson Returns!
By Gary Watton
February 27 2014

Three Yorkshire icons deserve mention, but for mixed reasons. Our captain marvel Andrew Gale has extended his contract, which is good news. Meanwhile, Richard Dawson, a hero from our Championship-winning exertions of 2001 has been appointed as coach of the second XI. Let us hope that his tenure proves infinitely more successful than his brief test career in Australia!

Finally, and tragically, our former seam bowling maestro, Graham Stevenson passed away on the 21st of January, aged 58. Graham was good enough to be selected twice for England's test team in 1979, and he famously contributed in 1982 to a record-breaking tenth wicket stand with our Geoffrey. Stevenson took many wickets in the late 'seventies and early 'eighties, and all those who remember his efforts do so with admiration and fondness.
