While the first eleven were dominating the proceedings against the reigning champions of Durham, the second string lost both matches in their Twenty20 double header against their northern neighbours. Here follows the two scorecards from the one-day skirmishes in the city of York.
In the first episode, Leaning and Rhodes shared a century stand for the fourth wicket which enabled the hosts to post a demanding target. Unfortunately Leaning and Robinson conceded forty-four runs from four overs as the visitors raced to an impressive triumph. The run chase was dominated by a stunning century from Calum MacLeod.
Twenty20 Championship, at York; match one. Durham won the toss.
YORKSHIRE SECOND XI: 165 for 7 (Leaning 52; Ireland 3-23, Arshad 3-32)
Durham second XI: 168 for 3 off 18.2 overs (MacLeod 103*)
Durham second XI won by seven wickets. YORKSHIRE SECOND XI 0 points, Durham second XI 2 points.
In the second instalment, the home team were again required to bat first. Regrettably their total on this occasion was inadequate, not helped by a two-ball duck for Oliver Robinson. In reply, a three-wicket burst from Will Rhodes restricted the away team to 43 for 3, but thereafter Durham strolled to victory, assisted by below-par bowling from Coad, Rafiq, Robinson, and Tattersall.
