The curse of the English 'summer' weather struck again as the second eleven fixture at Stamford Bridge between the Tyke understudies and their Warwickshire counterparts was restricted to 101 completed overs from the three scheduled days of cricket. The poor old visitors were unable to obtain much time at the crease while by the same token, the hosts had precious little bowling practice.

In the event, the Yorkshire openers of Callis and captain Tattersall produced a fine opening partnership, although both perished without even reaching a half century. Meanwhile, Andy Hodd (demoted from the first XI) produced an aggressive knock that included a dozen boundaries. As for our bowlers, they bowled quite tidily, especially Ben Coad, with the exception of Josh Shaw. However the youngster was still named in the twelve for the subsequent County Championship fixture at home to Nottinghamshire. Here follows the brief summary of the briefest of three-day skirmishes.

YORKSHIRE SECOND XI versus Warwickshire second XI; at Stamford Bridge; June 2nd-4th; Warwickshire second XI won the toss.

YORKSHIRE SECOND XI first innings: 301 (Hodd 58; Trott 3-39, Thomasson 3-58)

Warwickshire second XI first innings: 81 for one (Evans 50*)

Match drawn. YORKSHIRE SECOND XI 9 points, Warwickshire second XI 9 points.
