Here follows the statistics for the Yorkshire players who excelled with bat and ball for their successful county in the triumphant campaign of 2014. I nominate our honorary Yorkshireman, Jack Brooks, as the Tykes' player of the year in the County Championship. Coming second is the prolific Adam Lyth, with Adil Rashid awarded third position on my imaginary podium. Hopefully this trio will be given serious consideration by the England selectors.

MOST RUNS

Adam Lyth: 1,489; batting average of 67.68 [six centuries and six fifties]; highest score: 251. Adam scored the most runs in County Championship Division One!

Alex Lees: 971; batting average of 44.14 [two centuries and five fifties]; highest score: 138

Jonny Bairstow: 647; batting average of 46.21 [one century and four fifties]; highest score: 161

Kane Williamson: 629; batting average of 57.18 [one century and four fifties]; highest score: 189

Gary Ballance: 585; batting average of 65 [two centuries and three fifties]; highest score: 174

Adil Rashid: 577; batting average of 38.47 [two centuries and one fifty]; highest score: 159

Andrew Gale: 562; batting average of 43.23 [two centuries and one fifty]; highest score: 126

Jack Leaning: 465; batting average of 38.75 [four fifties]; highest score: 99

Tim Bresnan: 338; batting average of 33.8 [four fifties]; highest score: 95

Aaron Finch: 291; batting average of 48.5 [one century and one fifty]; highest score: 110

MOST WICKETS

Jack Brooks: 68; bowling average of 28.03 [two five-wicket innings]; best bowling: 5-36. Jack came second in County Championship Division 1 for most wickets taken!

Ryan Sidebottom: 48; bowling average of 18.35 [two five-wicket innings]; best bowling: 7-44

Adil Rashid: 46; bowling average of 26.07 [one five-wicket innings]; best bowling: 5-117

Steven Patterson: 36; bowling average of 27.81; best bowling: 4-54

Tim Bresnan: 30; bowling average of 31.57; best bowling: 4-112

Meanwhile, slip fielder Adam Lyth's haul of 35 catches from sixteen matches was the highest amount for the County Championship.
