Dastardly Durham Foil The Vikings
Collingwood

It was just Yorkshire's misfortune to be pitted against high-flying Durham Jets 24 hours after they had suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of Leicestershire. Chastened by this reverse, Durham returned to winning ways as they maintained their good run of form against the Tykes in limited overs tussles between the two northern neighbours. Andrew Gale who had another fine Twenty20 outing with the bat also managed to win the toss, but his decision to bowl first was definitely not vindicated. The usually trusty Tim Bresnan was spanked for a shocking fifty-one runs from his four-overs allocation. In the event, the hosts were able to amass a daunting target.
Regrettably, neither the misfiring duo of Hodd nor Lees rose to the considerable challenge. Glenn Maxwell also has failed conspicuously to live up to his top billing thus far. Bairstow and Bresnan chipped in with useful runs, but it was all to no avail, as the Vikings came up just short. In a high-scoring match, nobody surprisingly managed to get a half century, so perhaps the stand-out performance was a haul of four wickets for Keaton Jennings. This defeat is not the end of the world for the Vikings, but with every setback, there is less subsequent margin for error.
