A Disappointing Tie

When your team finishes a one-day contest avec a tied outcome, it is ordinarily a case of glass half full, glass half empty, but quite frankly the Yorkshire Vikings ought to be kicking themselves rather severely at failing to finish off the dastardly Foxes.

In the event, the returning Adil Rashid merely needed one run off the last ball, but instead was dramatically dismissed leg before wicket. It would be erroneous in the extreme to blame Adil for the failure to win. Instead, the Finch-Gale-Maxwell triumvirate again failed to produce the necessary fireworks, while young Rhodes was not a satisfactory bowling replacement for the axed Bresnan. Only the red-hot Jack Leaning stood up to the plate, and it was Yorkshire's misfortune that he was at the non-striker's end for the crucial finale. Clearly the fact that the hosts only conceded three extras, in contrast to the Vikings who yielded twenty costly extras, proved a telling difference too. Who says that extras, be they leg byes, or wides, or no balls are insignificant?! 

Will the failure to win yet another close contest be the difference between qualification for the quarter finals? Only time will tell. The Vikings, with only one win in their last six outings, definitely need to get their bloody finger out - and fast!
