Essex Is Next Obstacle

The only way is Essex for the Yorkshire Vikings as they learn that their route to the semi finals will require travelling to Chelmsford next Thursday for an afternoon and evening quarter final skirmish with Essex. Both counties won four matches and lost twice in their group fixtures, while Yorkshire emerged with a slightly better run rate. Therefore, both teams look evenly matched on paper. Although Essex enjoy home advantage, itself a flimsy benefit, it will be the team that wins the toss that will derive any advantage in the subsequent proceedings. I am sure that the Tykes would sooner play away and win the toss than play at home and lose the toss. As for their supporters, it will be an excuse for a day out, hopefully in clement weather. It promises to be a fascinating contest, with Yorkshire possibly boosted by the return of a few test players. The draw for the last eight is as follows:
