Head's Historic Innings Inspires Sensational Triumph

Jack Leaning

Yorkshire appear to have unearthed an absolute gem in young Australian Travis Head. Playing in his first fifty overs assignment for the Tykes, Head tore up both the inept Leicestershire bowling attack and the record books, ably assisted by young Jack Leaning who recorded his highest one-day score for Yorkshire. Between them, Head and Leaning added a staggering 274 runs, another milestone, for the third wicket. Clearly the Vikings have become sharpshooters at batting first, which explains why Lees's ability to win the toss is almost ominous now for opposing teams.

The grand old northern county now have three wins from five group outings and look poised for a quarter finals engagement in the One Day Cup. Next on the agenda is the visit of Nottinghamshire who sit just beneath Yorkshire, in second place, also with seven points. The Outlaws are due in Scarborough on Wednesday morning. A visit to Durham also has to be negotiated on Sunday. A win from either ought to nail down a place in the last eight.
