Godleman Sinks The Vikings
By Gary Watton
July 28 2018
After hitting the heights of their impressive triumph against the Birmingham Bears on the previous evening, the Vikings almost predictably came unstuck against the Derbyshire Falcons. This may raise the question as to whether the Tykes raise their game more for certain counties than for others. There's certainly no doubting Derbyshire's motivation when the Vikings pay a visit. The Falcons ultimately timed their run chase to perfection, but they looked to be cutting it a bit too fine when they required a daunting forty-two runs from the last three overs. Whilst Godleman commendably held his bat through the runs pursuit, it was Critchley's big hitting which plucked victory away from the visitors. Clearly Yorkshire were about ten runs short, but they still had an adequate total which they plainly did not defend well enough. This was a desperately disappointing defeat for the Vikings.
