Durham's Jamaican signing Gareth Breese has been cleared to take part in a Junior Cup match for his local club today to give him chance to prove his fitness ahead of next weeks ninth round Carib Beer match against Barbados.

Breese has missed the entire Carib Beer competition so far due to a stress fracture of the groin. Breese's participation in the Junior Cup game is a special dispensation from the Jamaican Cricket Association aimed at getting him back to fitness as soon as possible.

Jamaica are currently unbeaten in the cup and lead the Carib Beer table with two rounds to go, they narrowly beat Barbados at the away fixture earlier in the season.

Breese is expected to be fully fit for the pre-season tour of the UAE which begins on 25th March with the first tour match confirmed as a two day match on March 28th.
