The Night of a Thousand Smiles

Todays contribution comes from Jacqui Harrington, better known to most of us as 'Mrs H'. With a fair wind we'll kick this around on the messageboard. As I look at the picture I both ask and have answered - What makes our club so special?
The night of a thousand smiles - Jacqui Harrington

The evening of the 20th April 2002 at Sunbury was amazing; the cup was being paraded (complete with Guinness dregs in the bottom) & passed around the gathered grinning masses, the players mingled with us exuberant supporters, and we all had a thousand new best friends.
But one of the best moments was when the kids all grouped together to have their picture taken with the club's new piece of silverware. It was as if they had all got the best present ever. The smiles on their faces say it all really, and it still to this day brings a smile to my face whenever I look at it.
To me it proves the family ethics of the club - that everyone is welcome, young or old, so long as you are willing to be proud and passionate. These kids are - and I'm sure the moment they held the cup will be a memory they will hold on to for years to come.
By the way, another best moment was when Dec and Barry raided the canteen whilst everyone was queuing up for chips! A classic moment!! ( and I have the picture to prove it!)
