After what has been by far the busiest month for your site, here we look back at how the numbers have stacked up over the last year.

Your Site - Stats for the Season

There are over a quarter of a million reasons why the Craic is your favourite site, that's how many visits we have had in May, 262322 to be precise. This is the first time we've broken through this barrier. Ironically enough, in terms of ranking within Sportnetwork we've slipped down to 5th place this month. The political machinations at Bristol and Bath have made both their sites very busy this month. Normally they do not appear in the top 5, this month they were in first and second spot respectively. Northampton were third and Quins managed the fourth spot, again testifying to the outstanding work put in by The Prof and Kwin over the past year.

Concentrating on our own site, let's look at how things have progressed, this is the history of the stats.

This is the first month we've been able to do a direct comparison with last year. As you can see the comparison between May this and last year is very healthy. There is no doubt that part of this growth can be put down to factors outside the control of your Eds. Being in a relegation dogfight on the last day of the season contributed to the figures this year. On the counter side, last season we had an extra ZC game and we were still musing about HC qualification.

For me one particularly pleasing aspect of these figures, given the amount of effort that has been put in, is the number of story hits. Whilst messageboard traffic is up by 82% the number of story hits has increased by a whopping 266%. This has been achieved not just by keeping the site fresh but by building up the overall content. As the site has expanded, people stumbling on it for the first time find they have more to read.

It is not easy to judge how many different people read this site. On an average weekday we get hits from about 600 different IP addresses. The standard convention is that behind each of these IP addresses there are 3 individuals. This would indicate that every day about 1800 different people read this site. Over the course of the month of May we were visited by over 7500 unique IP addresses meaning that about 23,000 different people popped in at some stage during the month.

No doubt as we head into summer figures will drop off somewhat, although they have thus far appeared very resilient. In general I trust you'll agree that your site is doing rather well.
