Two collections this week - The First from Simon - Following on from Chris' last lot, some more ex-Saints players and From Old Pete - before he departs for the South Seas - "Monsieur Gleadell's is a hard act to follow in terms of twisted logic so I will just accept that we have a different style "
Following on from Chris' last lot, some more ex-Saints players:
Smurf
- Grade the fighting groups
- He's a craftsman, but a turkey
- Coaches told him to grease the ground
- You're backwards if you're striking a big or little seizure
- A load of broken military vehicles
- A spiky cottage for Elwood Dowd's friend
Monsieur Gleadell’s is a hard act to follow in terms of twisted logic so I will just accept that we have a different style - So this little lot concerns " Kings and Queens " in a loose sense of course.
as usual identify and explain all of the components
Old Pete
- Half bourbon and half retail his title was won by trickery.
- Originally a pratt it might be said was only really through hurt that he achieved full recognition.
- Which spurned woman lies " north of the Nene "
- a pioneer campaigner against smoking he allegedly preferred Buckingham to Denmark
- He already held a state when called on to replace an unwanted brother
- What common condition in the end connected Mary, Elizabeth and Anne?

Is 3 Mary Queen of Scots? For a period of time she was buried at Fotheringhay Castle (although this was not to be her final resting place). Very good pub - The Falcon - in Fotheringhay, too.

In a late bid for a QI point can I just say it is believed that the Elephant & Castle area of London is named for Catherine of Aragon, who owned property there. It's modern name is thought to be a corruption of one of her titles; L'Infanta de Castille.

!. Half a bourbon? Jack Daniel's or Jim Beam? Then the retail bit marks and Spencer ok I've googled and found a con-man called Jack Marks who pretended to be some sort of native American intellectual (remove the native and I believe there's an oxymoron alert*,)called Jamake Highwater.
